As most of you know I have a hate/hate relationship with Walmart. When my doctor told me yesterday that he was sending my scripts to Walmart I could feel that heaviness down in the pit of my stomach..Ooooooh Walmart I thought...But I was grateful for the service and convinced myself that maybe this time, this trip to Walmart would be a pleasant experience..One can only hope and pray right? I have had so many funny, frustrating and downright ridiculous stories about Walmart that many of my friends encourage me to write a book!!..lol..Actually I have written to the corporate offices and have spoken personally to store management but when your dealing with " that place" (its hard to say or write the word) I have found the best you will get is "I will let somebody know..........click"
I gave that place over 24 hours to get the rx's filled figuring that will make it an easy and fast in and out process..I mean once you step foot in there, you get sucked in and 4 hours later you emerge beaten down and depressed from employee abuse, cart abuse , customer horror's, and clean ups in aisle 1,2 and 3! As I approached the parking lot looking for a space to pull my car in I was already feeling the dread. I parked and proceeded to walk to the front door. Misfit carts were shoved in between the cars as I grabbed one to bring with me.."crap" why do I always get the one with the missing paint, rusted out handle and the three wheels! I left it there. It was either that or end up getting a tetanus..Entering that place you will come up to "the greeter" and as she welcomes you to Walmart she smiles and hands you another cart from hell..Why is she smiling when she must know that she is going to make the customer upset right off the bat by handing them a cart that doesn't work!! I pulled one out and it was the one with the wheel that doesn't move straight, it is the one that decides to rotate sideways and therefore makes the cart unable to move properly. Next I pulled out the cart we all know is surely demon possessed..We have all had that one! The one that for whatever reason will not follow directions. You turn it right, it wants to turn left and you struggle with it throughout the store, fighting and cursing it like a crazy person. By the time you are done shopping with that one you are physically exhausted and mentally drained! Next time I will throw holy water on it! After trying 4 carts I gave up and took the next one hoping it would at least move forward..It did , but after a few steps it started to bounce , shake and squeak and I walked around sounding like a friggin Clydesdale..Needless to say no one even notices the violent and loud cart because theirs sounds the same way! I made my way to the pharmacy and to my delight there was no wait!! I hit the jackpot! I went up and gave her my name..She said "Yes Stacy we have your three prescriptions ready" oh no! I knew there was supposed to be 4..I could feel the gnawing again in my stomach..I mentioned there should be a 4th and she looked on the computer and said "oh, here it is, for the Zantac, says here there is trouble"...Trouble? what the hell kind of trouble could there be with Zantac?? I mean maybe they got the name wrong, its Zantac not Zanax!! she went over and talked to the pharmacist..It was very intriguing..she returned saying "well it is trouble because your Doctor wrote for capsules and for the $10.00 Zantac it must be written for the tablets" it was all very dramatic!..I wonder if she could see my eyes rolling?? I thought to myself "for the love of god people, who cares?? " as we in the medical field know if your doctor had written a script for 'toilet paper' they wouldn't fill it unless it is specifically written for 2 or 3 ply?? geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez! anyway, so there I was stuck at that place, waiting on Zantac..She told me "we called him (meaning my doctor) this morning and we haven't heard back, could you come back in the morning??" now this was close to 5pm. she had no idea what she just asked of me!! to return to Walmart AGAIN??? that's when panic started to get the best of me, I could feel the shaking, the rise of blood pressure, it was getting hard to breathe and I looked down at my phone and prayed I still had my doctors cell phone number!! I did!! and I desperately dialed the number as if I was dialing 911.. Once he spoke to the pharmacist I knew I was on my way out...NOT!! they were impressed that they had their answer but because it was in the 'trouble file ' it would be another 45 minutes to an hour to fill!! oh my gosh! ok...I thought, this will be ok, I will stay calm, this place isn't going to defeat me, "greater is He that is in me" and all the other scriptures I could muster up...I will roam around the store. (surely a Walmart conspiracy to make sure you buy more stuff) I walked away with my wobbly, Clydesdale cart and proceeded to waste an hour....When I returned with my full cart of candles, plants , scented pine cones and other nonsense I didn't need ,I was told that because they were so busy it would be awhile longer, so she suggested to go check out my purchases and come back..I did just that and once that was done I returned to the pharmacy and again stood in line anxiously waiting my turn.. Excited to finally pick up my last item I was then told that it would be another 2 hours and maybe it was best to come back in the morning! 'NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" I told her in desperation that the girl told me it would be ready in an hour!!! I think I was starting to sweat and hyperventilate..All she could say was "well I'm sorry, we are behind" I looked around for the girl that told me 45 minutes in the first place, maybe she could save me, where is she?? she was gone!! no doubt she had just quit !!.. I stood there realizing why I have this relationship with that place in the first place and told myself once again "never go back in there Stacy, they are trying to destroy you". with my head hanging down in defeat I started to walk towards the door when I suddenly heard my name!! "Stacy!" I turned to see the pharmacist wave me over!! "I have your prescription ready"...it was a miracle, I wanted to hug him!!.....today I walked in to purchase 4 prescriptions for $40.00 , no line, no customers, no problems, no fuss .......2 hours later , my cart filled with time wasting items , a bill of over 150.00, and a new tick. As I left the store and the greeter smiled and said " Thank you for shopping at Walmart and have a nice day" I ran her over with my Clydesdale! Life is good again!

Skip the wait at the doctor's office!
I read this article online today and thought it was good enough to post..Most of this makes sense and is good advise BUT being in the field for close to 20 years , there is always that 'gray area' with my comments in red!
Skip the Wait at the Doctor’s Office.
Get better care and faster service with these tips:
You made an appointment to see your doctor weeks ago and arrived at her office on time. So why are you stuck sitting in the waiting room for more than an hour? "We have a broken system, and many doctors are packing their schedules to make ends meet," says L. Gordon Moore, MD, a family care practitioner and faculty member for the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. and that is true. Seeing 30 plus patients a day will almost surely create the schedule to fail from the moment the doors open. Be aware that person before you with the "simple' cough could turn to an admission to the hospital and that 10 minute appointment just sent the doctor's schedule behind 30 minutes.
Even the most punctual among us are late on occasion, so waiting 15 to 20 minutes to see your doctor isn't a big deal. But waiting longer than that isn't just annoying; it could actually hurt your health. "Research shows that patients who spend too long in waiting rooms are less likely to seek the follow-up care that they need," Dr. Moore explains. yes, very true you find yourself not wanting to come back and deal with it and not only that, the patient is so annoyed and upset his pressure rises and he becomes angered and one of those 'problem patients', not quite fair is it?. While the key to solving the problem of long waits primarily lies in the hands of doctors, there are some things patients can do. Try these tips for speedier service:
1. Ask for the first appointment of the day. You will almost always be seen promptly if there's no one in line in front of you. very true!
2. Get your checkups in the off-season. When scheduling a routine appointment, ask the doctor or her office staff if there's a time of year that tends to be slow, says Martha V. White, MD, research director for the Institute for Asthma and Allergy in Wheaton, Maryland. "For some practices, summer is relatively quiet, but ‘seasonality' varies by location and specialty," she says. summer IS better
3. Call ahead. Before you head out, call the doctor's office and ask if he's running on time, suggests Sandra Adamson Fryhofer, MD, an internist in Atlanta. If you find out he's currently 30 minutes behind schedule, you can leave your home or office a little later instead of spending that time flipping through expired magazines in the waiting room. which can work for you or against you! Most large practices don't like to commit to that in case the doctor suddenly gets back on track then he wonder's where his patients are.Plus there are patients that complain about the schedule, decide to come in later because they assume the doctor is 'always ' late, then the patient gets a late fee because he was 15 minutes late or worse yet, a 'no show' fee because he didn't show up for 30 minutes and was dropped from the schedule! and of course the pressure rises again, the anger, you get the picture.
4. Always make an appointment. Some patients who feel sick just show up at their doctor's office, and many places will try to accommodate patients even if they haven't made an appointment. But without an appointment, the wait will be longer because the doctor won't be expecting you and will have to squeeze you in between other patients, says Robert Carr, MD, a family physician in Southbury, Connecticut. If it's really urgent, go to the ER. yes, chest pain, acute pain go immediately, but waiting in the ER for flu symptoms, and other primary care aliments you will find you will wait hours upon hours for an over tired doctor that doesn't know any of your history, and the charges are through the roof!. If its not life threatening, stick it out and wait for your personal doctor.
5. Find a new doctor. If your doc is perpetually late and you don't have time to wait-and really, who does?--it's probably time for a change. When shopping for a new doctor, remember to ask whether the doctor usually runs on time (in addition to all those important questions about credentials and bedside manner). One quick way to find this out, says Dr. Moore, is to ask the receptionist how essential it is that you snag the first appointment of the day. "If she highly recommends it, that's a bad sign. If she says it doesn't make a difference, that's good because it means the doctor is generally prompt all day long." good advise, but most receptionist's won't honestly know how to answer that question without feeling they will be giving a negative light to their practice. Word of mouth is usually the way to an honest answer!
And finally, be reasonable. While your time is valuable and an organized doctor should allow ample time in her schedule to deal with sick patients who need same-day care, emergencies do happen.all the time! "I'll never forget the man who, while I was on my knees working on a woman who had collapsed in the hall, walked to within 10 feet of me and asked when I was going to see him," says Dr. White. "Even if you don't feel well or you have pressing business, there may be somebody else who is even more ill or has more pressing needs." One of the most common statements I heard from patients was " My time is just as valuable" and in the big picture that IS true, but leave room for margins of error and you will be more peaceful. If you can't and life is just to hurried for you that day then schedule your appointments on a day off. Remember , you could be the one that collapsed and that urgent care could be saving your life..The golden rule!

"This is it"
Well I saw Michael Jackson's "This is it" over the weekend. Wow, He never knew what a profound title that was. I sat mesmerized for close to 2 hours watching this master of talent. I thought "if this was just a rehearsal, I can just imagine what the real concert would have been like or should have been like"!
I wasn't a huge MJ fan but I certainly did appreciate his style. This movie captured his incredible showmanship and excellence. I never thought for one moment he was frail or sick. He danced around like a man in his 20's! There were a few times you could tell he was being helped through some 'lipsyncing' but he did say he was trying to 'save his voice' for the concert.
The thing that struck me the most was all the preparations going on for this elaborate show. The artists, dancers, musicians, decorators, fashion designers, producers and builders ..I sat there thinking the cost of all this and the way each and everyone had put their heart and soul into this man's talent. After one of these rehearsals Michael Jackson went home, couldn't sleep, took some pills, still couldn't sleep and then asked his doctor for his routine IV and went into a sleep to never wake up again. How very very sad. The whole thing kinda just made me mad ..I wasn't mad at anyone but MJ..Oh many have their opinions and rants about the doctor, and the 'yes men' surrounding Michael, and all the other reasons why he is dead, but plain and simple he was reckless with his life and the ultimate responsible person in his life that caused his death was himself. He had a great life to finish, many counted on him including his 3 young children and you can't just do whatever you want with your life and think that nothing will touch you..Cause and effect can be negative and positive and we make that choice for ourselves. We can blame everyone from his father to the doctor and everyone in between but Michael Jackson died because of the 'man in the mirror'.
The movie was great to watch to see his talent in action again, but very sad to know that behind the scenes, in his private world , he was suffering and it was his choice to shut out the people that could have helped him.
In a practical point, I hope the movie makes a boat load of money because watching that production take place I would imagine he left a huge debt and many out of work and out of income. I honestly don't blame the producers for making this movie to both honor the King of Pop and to recoup their money, it makes sense.
All in all, Michael Jackson was an incredible talent with a sad life and a tragic end and the movie honors his talents. The private side of MJ will most likely continue to be 'dishonored' by the tabloids , investigators and lawyers for years to come, and certainly not an honor fit for a King.

another day, another resume
Went out job hunting yesterday, it was awful! I was handing out my resume like it was candy on Halloween.. I even ran out! Maybe my costume was scaring people, ya know... haggered, middle aged , desperate crazy person! even went to the new Pet Supermarket by Beef O'Brady's in town, they plan on opening soon and were busy stocking shelves..Huh, what a riot...there were many others filling out applications that were at least 25 years younger then me, but all the jobs there were filled anyway, I just filled it out in case someone gets fired the first day or gets mauled by a cuddly Little bunny, hey it can happen, ever see Monty Python?!.YouTube - Monty Python Bunny Scene ..lol...I haven't filled out an application in 20 years...I doubt they would hire me anyway..tooo old!Its pretty bad when you can't even land a job working with a bunch of animals..After all ,I did work at a family practice for 15 years and that was a zoo! I thought about going to the nursing homes but changed my mind, they probably would think I was a new tenant and try checking me in, I saw myself screaming for help as they were wheeling my fat ass down the hall..not a pretty scene, so skip that , plus I hate nursing home smells! yuck! I saw an AD for a retail position at the Florida Mall at Frederick's of Hollywood but the reality of age has set in and even though it would be fun (to some degree) I could see the customers with looks on their faces of "you gotta be kidding "..not good for sales! I can't sell sex, I want a refund!

Find a job you like and you add five days to every week. ~
I went out today with a stack of resumes in search of a job. It is strange to get in the car and really not know where to go. I headed out to the medical office's I knew in the area and then just drove around 'looking'...Looking for what is the question. Surely there wasn't going to be someone standing on a corner with a sign that read " Stacy, this is it".
I have searched the wants ad' and craigslist and online job recruiters and there is little one can do once all avenue's have been exhausted. Most everyone I talked to said the same thing and it was either "we are not hiring right now" or "we are really slow right now but I will keep it on file" . Of course I walked out knowing that it was a huge possibility that my resume was tossed in the trash as soon as I left.
I have decided that middle age sucks..We might have great insights and wisdom, a lengthy resume full of experience and hard work ethics, we show a little wear and tear on the outside but our minds are sharp and because you're probably an empty nester you are no doubt available to work any day, and anytime..The problem is 'they ' just aren't into you'...The young, the beautiful, the strong, the slim and most of all the multi-lingual have the job in the bag..Heck, that usually ends up to be your boss anyway..
Well, I better get back at the hunt. Tomorrow is another day!

"I'm Baaaaaaaaaaaack!"
I have had so many people ask me where I have been lately. Well I had a job for about 2 months with a local Doctor. I had hoped that the job was going to permanent and my days of endless job hunting would be over..It wasn't to be. This was a small office with 2 doctors, one full time and one part time. There was 2 other staff members besides me..Why they wanted another person and why they hired me is still an unanswered question in my mind. I answered an AD from the doctor, had an interview with him at the local hospital and he called me and told me when to come in his office to start work. From my very first day of work it was strange. I walked to the front door and the place was closed and dark, I had to wait outside with the patients for the receptionist to arrive, she was late. When I told her and the nurse I was there to work, they just looked at each other with surprise. They had no idea I was coming, no idea why I was there and no idea what I was to do.....I should have turned around and run right then but I thought it was all rather funny and put my purse away and started in with getting to know the place. It was downhill from there....
All I can say about that job is that it turned out to be the most bizarre office I have ever worked in all my years of employment. And I have been working since I was 14 years old. I sometimes have to ask myself if I am a magnet for the strange and weird. Maybe I am. I worked in chaos, disorganization and strange everyday. I think back and wonder if I should have just stayed there and just overlooked all the bizarre around me for the paycheck, because being without work again is really horrible.BUT....everyone has their limits of what they can endure and eventually they had me working 5-10 hours a week, yep a week. And I ask again, why was I hired? I don't know... soooooo making 50 dollars a week was my final realization that this wasn't the best place for me. ..I did accomplish some necessary cleaning and straightening. I left the bathroom clean ,painted and decorated, threw away trash and broken down machinery, tried to arrange the patient charts in alphabetical order,( notice I said tried ) I cleaned the doctors office so he could walk in there and actually sit at his desk and work. I spent 2 days on my hands and knees, and hours upon hours shredding years of old records. I ended up hurting my left arm and pulling a muscle so badly that it still hurts today. Workman's comp?? lets see..........NOT!..This was an office that the doctor didn't even provide his staff fresh water to drink and a working refrigerator and you think he would have workman's comp?? so I suffer with this pain everyday as a constant reminder of my very strange encounter with a very strange office. The stories I could tell are hilarious to the absurd and everything in between. I don't want to insult anyone (much) so I will just leave it all to your own imaginations, but one day I had to take a temperature on a feverish patient and could not find a thermometer anywhere in the office. I was running around looking for one like a crazy person. The poor sick patient was probably wondering why I was such an idiot..Me too. I ended up borrowing one from the office across the hall..I knew from that point this was going to be a wild ride! Need I say more?? It just got worse after that....
So somewhere out there is a place for me (sounds like a song, ummmm) and I am at it again, checking the want Ad's daily. Today I found one that wanted a lady to sell sex toys..Oh geeez, I'm just to tired, my heart wouldn't be in it, I'm sure every time someone wanted a party I would get a headache and the sales pitch? I would fall over laughing!! "I'm fired" !!

"IN YOUR FACE" !!!
Well I finally created a Facebook account..I have no idea what I am doing..Isn't emailing enough? I guess not.
So if you take a look and it seems pretty stupid to you , well I guess you have to consider the source. I had a tough enough time trying to load a few pictures in and then suddenly I see all these people on there that I don't even know!! Where the heck did they come from? and are they talking to me?? no, they are carrying on conversations with other Facebookies! I'm sooooooooooo confused!!
Ya see...you open a small door to the Internet and the whole friggin planet wants to come in..GEEEZ!!
I guess it will all come to me after I get instructed how to do it , probably by a bunch of 5 year olds no doubt!
Take care!!

A human life is a story told by God. ~Hans Christian Andersen
JUNE 25th 2009
Like everyone today, I was shocked to hear the news of the death of Michael Jackson. I was shopping for some scrubs for work when Sean called and said he heard it on the car radio ..I thought he was joking..I had just heard about the passing of Farrah Fawcett and this was just a little unreal. Life does turn on a dime and we should live every moment with love, laughter and joy..
When I think of Michael's passing it reminds me a lot of the passing of Diana and Elvis because I think his funeral will be massive, maybe even more dramatic .
I enjoyed his music, he was a great entertainer and had a surreal short life. He leaves 3 young children and a grieving family. Whether you are famous or not, that is sad.
Two entertainment icons died today and it is a date to remember, so I will in print.
May they both rest now, in the loving arms of God.

People do not die for us immediately, but remain bathed in a sort of aura of life which bears no relation to true immortality but through which they continue to occupy our thoughts in the same way as when they were alive. It is as though they were traveling abroad. ~Marcel Proust

Go ahead "make your day" with Gran Torino
I watched Clint Eastwood's 'Gran Torino' last night ( Gran Torino ) and I was blown away by his brilliant performance.
Eastwood plays an elderly World War 2 vet named Walt that is haunted by pain, guilt and loneliness. He lives in an area of town that is surrounded by gangs, both Mexican and Korean and he just about hates anyone that isn't American or white. Actually he even dislikes members of his own family , and tends to growl at them. His distaste for people and his expressions were both appalling and made me laugh out loud! Walt is not a likable character. He is downright mean, rude and very prejudice. If you are offended with racial slurs, this movie is extreme, so go into it expecting to be offended, it is his character, and the audience isn't suppose to like him. That's good writing and good acting!
The movie opens up with the funeral of his wife. As Walt stands at the alter of the church he watches his family come into the church and snarls at them and then snarls at the priest. You know then that this grumpy old man has quite a story to tell.
Living next to a Korean family doesn't sit well with Walt and he does a lot of growling their way until an altercation erupts on his front lawn with one of the gangs. Armed with a rifle, he stops the violence with his signature "make my day" bad ass attitude. Walt suddenly becomes the Korean neighborhood hero, a reluctant one at that. It is a mixed blessing because he doesn't even like the people he rescued, they were just on his manicured lawn.
From this point you begin to see a different side of Walt. He starts to open his heart in his own surly, sarcastic and prejudicative way. His demeaning slang can be shocking to hear at times, but it works in this movie so superbly. As the events take place, and the drama of the story unfolds you find that your own dislike for this man start to fade. You begin to understand him, forgive him and actually like him.
In the end Walt looks for redemption and peace and finds it in an unexpected act of self sacrifice.
There are great moments in this movie. There is laughter and shock, deep messages and insight. I really enjoyed the interactions between Walt and the Korean girl next door. She understands Walt and humbly accepts his degrading insults with maturity and humor.
Its rated R for hard core language and moderate violence. I so enjoyed this movie because you come full circle with your emotions. Why is it called Grand Torino? I don't want to get to detailed with the plot for you, just rent it, find out and enjoy, or even growl...."go ahead ,make your day"

MTV Movie Awards
I was channel surfing last night and happened across the degrading, and horrifying MTV Movie Awards. I have always thought that the MTV music awards were bad enough but this award show was the lowest of the low. It was "anything goes" and the presenters, winner's and entertainer's made sure to 'out do' one another with tasteless and obscene humor, F bombs, sexual overtones and gross in your face obscenities(Sacha Baron Cohen, among others) It is no surprise how I feel about award shows (see my older posts) but this one should have been rated and the producer's handed a huge fine.
The movies and actors that were awarded were basically Young Hollywood. I felt embarrassed for them as this young crowd was bombarded by low class toilet humor by their adult peers. I felt a huge disrespect from many actors that I do or did admire . It was almost ridiculous to hear Miley Cyrus thank God in her acceptance speech, I literally cringed! "Oh pleeeease don't even bring God in here, somebody might turn to a pillar of salt!" No disrespect on Miley, her heart was right, but the atmosphere was so anti God that it was completely out of place. As a mother I felt like I wanted to grab everyone of those young impressionable 'kids' and yank them out of there, then ground them for a week and scold the adults!
The online news this morning talks about the "silliness" of the show. Silliness? I would surely use another descriptive word besides silliness. Vulgar, obscene, tasteless, repulsive, but silly? not even close. I wonder how anything good can come out of Hollywood with disgust like this in the face of young talent. They don't have a chance unless they can hold on to some strong ethics and have some kind of moral code. OMG!! I forgot , silly me..Hollywood and moral code in the same breath? What WAS I thinking!! My bad!! click....

"Meno- Madness"!!
This morning I was getting dressed as usual , and as I was in the bathroom using the hot curling iron I almost fainted as my body turned into a red burning piece of coal! YEP! another hot flash! I'm sure if I would have 'gone down' in a blaze of glory, the paramedics would have found me in a pool of sweat with some kind of distorted curling iron branding decorated into my face!
Now this kind of ridiculous life drama has gone on far to long. Living in denial ,I had thought maybe, just maybe I would be a lucky woman and not go through this torture of 'growing old gracefully'..NOT!..My mother seems so surprised that I go through this because in her words "Gosh, I never went through any of this, I never had a hot flash".........I wonder, is that supposed to make me feel better? Thanks mom! I have 2 sister's and we seem to be going through it at the same time. What a trio we make! Since mom loves to rub it in that she is menopauseless (yea, its not a word, big deal, you gonna argue with me?, NOT TODAY!!) I have come to the conclusion that either my sister's and I skipped a generation OR we are all adopted! I think its the latter.Somewhere out there is this childless elderly woman , skin hanging to her knees, sweating profusely, hair in patches, haggard and worn out from lack of sleep , half crazy and searching for estrogen! THAT IS our real mother!
Years ago, 'they' used to call having your period the 'curse'........I have to rethink this. OK so we start to bleed when we're 8 years old, big deal! We have a few cramps that mimic hard labor, whatever, we're tough! We get out of bed each morning for 7 days to discover our sheets now resemble a crime scene, we can handle it. We want to do bodily harm to anyone that comes near us for a few days, piece of cake...Those were the days of youth and beauty and childbirth!! a curse?? ummm....let me tell you about the CURSE!!
One Sunday I went to church as I did for many years and I opened my Bible to read a scripture and suddenly without any warning the words before me were blurry. I went to bed the night before and could see, this morning I need glasses! How does this happen? How do you get into bed seeing 20/20 and wake up not being able to friggin read! This was only the beginning of the transformation into menopause madness!
As time went by and my eyesight got worse I did see a doctor only to be told "this is normal" for my age..Going blind is normal? I used to pride myself of being able see like an eagle and now I squint and distort my face when reading a simple menu that I'm sure people around me must think I have some sort of neurological disorder. I must think by doing this that my eyes will suddenly return to normal BUT normal is forever gone. In the middle of the night, some strange dark and evil maniac came into my bedroom and stole my hormones! yep, the curse!!
Ever since then, life has been one endless battle after another to get them back! This is a battle that I believe I will not win but at least I can go down kicking and screaming. In one year I have gained 25 pounds, have more gray hair then brown, grew skin wings under my arms, and lost sight of my feet.. I haven't eaten a single thing either, I have gained it just looking at food! I live on a few pieces of fruit and yogurt and yet somehow this massive amount of food tipped my scale! After eating I suddenly look down and I cannot see my friggin feet! Where are my feet? My stomach will bloat from eating a cracker .I seriously look at least 7 months pregnant! tying my shoes, or bending over is a frustrating ordeal, as I'm sure my water will break any second! I can't imagine what would happen if I sat and ate a large meal like a bowl of soup! My whole body swells with just the smell of salt. I can't even go near the beach ,I might blow up! One day I fit in my jeans the next I don't, must have been that extra piece of celery I ate the day before! I dye the gray out of my hair at night and the next morning its back! How the hell does this happen? yep, its the Curse!!
Hot flashes! how can one describe a boiling of red hot lava steaming up inside your body that has only one mission...to kill yoooooou!! I'm convinced the evil doer that stole my hormones actually is on a mission to kill and destroy what is left of my once lovely body. What brought me to write about this is the last time I was standing in the bathroom trying to get dressed. I was holding the curling iron in one hand, comb in another and suddenly I could feel it! That rising of blood pressure, the sudden flush of hot death, my skin starting to burn from the inside out, the sensation of pins and needles on your flesh, the lightheadedness, and then there it is! The Hot Flash!! You stand there unable to move for a moment thinking surely this is the end of life! sweat running from pores you didn't even know you had, makeup melting like candle wax down your haggard face, my legs buckle beneath me as I actually feel faint, I quickly throw water on myself to put out the fire . I hunch over the sink, looking in the mirror as my body is literally red all over..I breathe slowly not to hyperventilate and pray that it ends or I die, whatever comes first! After a few minutes, it is gone...Then you are left with the damage repair. My hair matted with water and hairspray, Alice Cooper eyes, and sweat drenched clothes . What used to take a few minutes to dress and get ready for the day now takes hours due to the constant changing of clothes, make overs and clean up. The other day my husband and I were having a nice afternoon driving around in his car. Everything was fine and peaceful UNTIL the hot flash! Like a frantic lunatic I suddenly went from sweet wife to a psycho whack job, moving every vent on myself and thrusting the blowers to 'hurricane speed'! never giving it a thought that my kind husband was having his own heat stroke because there was no air going his way, he nervously asks me as he is gasping for a breath "honey, can I have some air now?...I look at him with red burning eyes of madness "NO"!! I'm sure he felt extreme fear as I know I turned into something resembling the Ghost Rider, yep..... a burning talking skeleton!! very attractive! ummmmmmmmmmm the curse.
I have had some suggest to just start exercising the weight away, walk, swim or jog! "it will make you feel better" they say.. Are you freaking kidding me? I live in Florida and a cool day here is about 80 degree's..I have tried it all from walking to swimming to even getting on a treadmill IN my air conditioned house WITH the fan blowing on me at high speed..Doing any of these things when the hot flash rears its ugly head is comparing it to getting into a sauna in the middle of the desert! AND yes you can have a hot flash while you are in a pool, or shower. During those times my body is very confused on what to do, I supposed its like lava pouring into the ocean, either I'm going to boil to death or turn into a piece of charcoal.
Walking during a hot flash is miserable, no where to go except down and then there's no one around to pick your lifeless body off the 150 degree asphalt. .
I had a friend tell me that a hot flash is actually our body 'searching for estrogen'..Apparently it wants to play hide and seek! When the body cannot find the estrogen it then throws a damn hissy fit and WHAM there is the hot flash! I visualize this hissy fit as our body grabbing a hot poker delightfully say "how do you like that bee- ach?, NOW where's my friggin estrogen?" The evil doer does not play fair because our body is searching for something that no longer exists! If estrogen is searching for something that used to resemble ovaries, you might as well forget it! game over! Raisins are not ovaries, and my uterus? oh, I think that fell out yesterday.
Sleeping is no longer a pleasant event for me..no no, I fear it..I lay out my essentials on the night stand. Water for dehydration, fan for air movement(even though the air temp is set at 60) , misting bottle (once used to mist my plants, now mists me) and a box of Kleenex. I used to sleep in the spoon position, silent, unmovable and calm..Now I move from side to side, wake up suddenly with a hot flash, throw off the covers, mist myself to put out the fire, stumble to put the fan on high but I can't see because of the water I just misted in my eyes, things go flying everywhere, I step on the dog, she growls, I guzzle some water, throw off clothes, then lay there exhausted trying to cool down.....Then I start to chill and shiver, I reach for the Kleenex to wipe off the water, bits of tissue stick to my body, I'm freezing and throw the covers back on and slowly dry and drift off to sleep until SUDDENLY!! yea, you get the picture....
My usual wake up call is a hot flash about 7:30 am. Fine way to greet the morning . I love the fresh feeling of a sweat pool between your breasts, and sheets peeled to your body like sticky fly paper as you climb out of bed in a daze from a night of 'hide and seek' and torture with the evil one! My eyes are swollen half shut , my sinuses clogged, and I can't breathe out of my nose from the fan blowing dust in my face all night. Parts of the bed and pillow are still damp from watering myself all night, I'm picking pieces of kleenex off me, the bed, the dog and the floor. With my body trying to destroying itself , and my husband's snoring I usually get about 2o minutes of blissful sleep, oh I'm being dramatic, ......I get 30 minutes...Then the routine starts all over again..
I honestly feel that someday my body will implode from within and then actually burst from a spontaneous combustion. There I will be, all that is left of me ,a small pile of ash on the bathroom floor! My final hot flash! I have often told my family, "if you happen to see this pile, don't worry, its just me, it was quick...Just sweep me up in the dust pan and say goodbye"..No need for cremation, as my body took care of it on its own!
So as I have re-thought the curse question I cannot honestly agree that keeping and having your hormones is the curse..Losing them IS! it is the start of a slow process into menopausal madness. 'They' say men go through their own menopause? What happens to them? a few wrinkles?" whatever! they look better with a few gray hairs and age on them...Men age well... Oh yes, the lovely 'golden years'...what the hell does that mean? What is graceful and golden about losing your friggin mind at 50 years old! Men get to look like Sean Connery and we look like Maxine... My hormones are gone, and my body wants to destroy itself by becoming an open fire pit! yep, it pretty much sounds like a curse to me!! Check please!!!

"Starting my day with some help"
I wanted to post this link on my blog and again suggest everyone to click on it and save it for your daily 'lift'..I have found it very rewarding, enlightening and quite enjoyable.
One Year Bible Blog
It's a wonderful read each morning with a delightful song as well. In this stressful and anxious world we live in there has to be a place where one can find some refuge and peace, if only for a few minutes. Try it for awhile, it will make a difference in your day!

God and other artists are always a little obscure. ~Oscar Wilde
My nephew is a very talented artist. He has recently made his dream come true by creating a website and painting full time from his home and work shop. Please take a few minutes and view his Gallery. StudioConstantine.com
He plans on showcasing his work in the summer with a lovely "show" in Harmony, Florida.
It will be a wonderful evening full of art, music, wine and celebration. For those that are close by I hope you will join us. I will keep you updated once the invitations are sent out! If you love art, you will love his amazing work!

"response from Washington state"
Fred got a response regarding his letter that I posted here the other day! It is always great to put your words out there and be a voice and it is validated with a concerned reply. I have posted the response below:
From: Kelley.Troy@leg.wa.gov
Dear Fred,
Thank you for your email regarding the release of offenders. Public safety is a top priority for me, and that is why I joined the House Judiciary Committee this year. I realize that many offenders who have served their time are not yet ready to be released into our community. The Special Commitment Center on McNeil Island is a step in the right direction with regard to keeping sexual predators from entering back into society before they are rehabilitated. I would argue that we need to strengthen regulations within the Center to prevent its residents from making inappropriate calls, and I prime sponsored a bill that would have done that. As I discuss and review other legislation that will keep our families safe from repeat offenders, I will keep your concerns in mind. I appreciate your input.> > > Sincerely,> > > Troy> > > -----TO: Senator Mike Carrell> > CC: Representative Troy Kelley> Representative Tami Green
Fred also got a phone call from State Senator Mike Carrell last night. "We had a long talk about the entire criminal justice system last night. He didn't come out and say it, but reading between the lines I think the GPS tracking devices were some sort of experiment by the Governor's office to see if they could supervise electronically. He says he has a group of ordinary citizens who keep him in contact with public sentiment. He is sending me his cell phone, home phone, personal email, etc. so that I can join that group.
Fred"
It is fantastic that Fred's one email got so far!! One voice of passion can change a law and can make new ones!! Keep in up my friend!

"Letting the monster's out!"
I have a dear friend that lives in Washington state . He wrote me to tell me that his niece's best friend was murdered while walking home from a birthday party. She had decided to take a short cut through some near by woods and never made it home. His niece was with her friend but decided not to take the short cut and they separated. Hours later while searching for her, this sweet young girl was found by her own father! What a tragic devastating life drama.
Because this event hit so close to home for my friend he has written a letter to elected Representatives and Public Safety Officials in Washington. With his permission I have decided to put it on my blog ! It is vital that something drastic is done in our country ..We cannot allow sexual predator's and criminals to be released from prison only to hurt and kill again! Our current laws do not work..I grieve for my friend and his pain and pray for the family of this little girl who's life was stolen by a monster that should have NEVER been allowed to get out of his cage!

To my elected Representatives and Public Safety Officials,
A child was murdered. She was murdered by a convicted felon deemed extremely likely to re-offend. In accordance with public law, after release from prison, this felon was to be monitored by public safety officials.
I believe we all understand that the idea of sexual predator registries is a failed policy. The law, as it is currently written, fails to protect the public and fails to protect the released offenders. The public has a reasonable expectation of protection from known criminals who will likely re-offend. The offender, after release from prison, has a reasonable expectation of an opportunity to fit into mainstream society. The current laws do nothing to meet either expectation. Putting a felon’s name on a registry amounts to an admission that our current laws are inadequate.
When a consensus of medical experts concludes that a convicted criminal is likely to commit additional crimes, that criminal should not be released from prison. You may believe that prison is for punishment or that prison is for rehabilitation. I am suggesting that the primary function of prison, and indeed the entire public safety system, is to protect the public. Punishment and or rehabilitation are certainly admirable goals, but these goals are secondary to public safety.
If a prisoner is deemed to no longer be a threat to the public, that prisoner should be released and assisted with their entry into mainstream society. Keeping felons names and addresses on public registries assures that these released prisoners will never fit in. With their opportunities limited, many revert to a life of crime.
I would like to see a review of current laws regarding sexual predators. I am suggesting Washington State adopts new sentencing and parole guidelines. I believe we should have sentencing guidelines that are extremely tough, with parole guidelines that permit flexibility. I would suggest sentencing guidelines of 40-60 years for most sexual crimes. I would also suggest that after a very short (5 years) time, prisoners would be eligible for parole if they met certain medical criteria. When a team of medical experts determines the prisoner to no longer threaten public safety, then and only then the prisoner would be permitted to apply for parole. So long as the medical experts determine a prisoner to be a danger, any parole requests would be ineligible for a hearing.
We keep arresting the same people over and over. It is difficult for me to understand why we release them in the first place. I encourage you to deal with this problem in an effective manner and stop putting band-aids on a gaping wound.
Sincerely,
Fred Block

"and the Oscar goes to"
Well I wasn't sure I even wanted to blog about that endless night of ego's, the best and worse dressed, the speeches that turn into platform debates, and all the other drama that goes into producing the ultimate award show that gives away a naked gold man the size of a barbie doll to the best of the best. The best I ask , according to who? who decides? the Hollywood Foreign press? Price Waterhouse? I know its not the audience, that's another award show "the People's Choice", but then again..I don't ever remember being asked about that either..Who are the 'people' that get to choose? they didn't ask me.:(..ha ha, they wouldn't!
Anyway...this year, surprisingly I have to say was a better show. The set itself was beautiful and full of glamour. Hugh Jackman ( People Magazine's Sexiest man alive, Wolverine, Australia) was quite good as a first time host. My personal favorite's will always be Johnny Carson and Billy Crystal. Hugh's talents were showcased in many delightful musical numbers and he seemed generally at ease and comfortable and I must say he is certainly nice to look at!. His opening number was very entertaining until half way through the song the camera decided to show closeups of his face and his mouth was starting to create some white thrush on the corner's of his mouth. That was probably caused by dry mouth in his nervousness etc and I felt grossed out only because thrush seeping out of ones mouth grosses me out period!. Sorry Hugh, it wasn't personal... but thrush isn't pretty even if it is on the sexiest man alive! Camera man: pan away from his face! I'm sure after that he went back stage and drank water, lots of it... OK, where was I? Oh yea back to the golden ken doll. Well bottom line the show was way to long and we all know that right? Yes we do. So what did the producer decide to do? make it longer by adding these insane nomination speeches to each and every nominee by former winner's. Now I heard opinions afterward that some thought that special touch was wonderful but personally I thought "oh my gosh, how much more do these people need to be told how great they are?" what ever happened to " it is just an honor to be nominated?", list the nominee's , then open the envelope and give out the Oscar... But to go on and on to each nominee about how great they are on a personal level was over the top. For the love of god people they were not being given the "Pulitzer" !!
My personal surprises was that Mickey Rourke didn't win and Sean Penn did (and of course it gave him his platform to give his political opinions and that was NO surprise), then he thanked everyone else in his life BUT the woman who has stayed by his side , explaining the next day that he kept his speech non personal...ummmmm..using the world stage for his pro gay marriage view wasn't personal? whatever!
In the end, 3 hours later ,it was basically the same show it always is. Long, longer , longest..The glamorous were still glamorous, the red carpet was still red, the Oscar was still gold, and Hollywood is obese from the over indulgent of fat paychecks and fat ego's . I think they should seriously consider changing the Golden statue to a plus size!
see ya next year!!

¡crisol! (the melting pot)
Well, my job hunting saga continues daily as resume after resume is posted, emailed and faxed all over Central Florida. I get a few calls, very few. I may have to end up taking a Spanish course to actually get hired now. Yesterday's Ad's were full of very interesting job prospects and worth sending my resume in BUT because I only speak English I cannot apply. There were so many AD's that I decided to go ahead and post them here just so you can get an idea of the frustration that many job seeker' s must have like me that only know English. I wonder if this is a form of discrimination? What do you think?
*At least 2 years of recent MA experience ,Must speak Spanish fluently
*Bilingual a must.
*Bi-lingual a plus
*We are seeking English, Spanish/English, Cantonese/English, Mandarin/English, Vietnamese/English, and Korean/English bi-lingual telephone interviewers.
*looking for motivated bilinguals
*Candidate must be energetic, computer skills, organized, English/Hindi speaking, and Hard working.
*Bilingual Spanish Receptionist (Cuban dialect preferred)
*Must have flawless English and Spanish
*Must be able to speak fluently in both English and Portuguese as we have a multi speaking office.
*Persons applying MUST be bi-lingual.
*Preferred if person speak Arabic or/and Vietnamese.
*Must speak Englsih and Spanish ( I had to laugh at this one!! you must speak good but not necessarily know how to spell it!!) haha
I do understand that Florida and many states now have multi culture's with many different languages being spoken. America is home to everyone and is the 'melting pot' . I am glad so many can come here and find work and a wonderful place to live, I just want the same thing as well. Maybe the answer is to learn Spanish and quit bitching about it. I suppose it would be a smart thing to do in the long run to find a good job. I will check into it. You can also see by the Ad's that it is more then just knowing Spanish . It's like the "United Nations" around here! If I end up having to learn Spanish,Portuguese, Italian, Hindi or German to get a friggin job at "McDonalds" something is just wrong, so very wrong!! ha ha!! ¿quieres las patatas fritas con esa orden? você quer fritadas francesas com essa ordem? volete le patate fritte con quell'ordine? or wünschst du Pommes-Frites mit diesem Auftrag? ("do you want fries with that?")

"and the award goes to"
Give me a friggin break! I did it again, I just waisted over 2 hours of my life watching another boring award show on TV. Why do I do this to myself? Just to see what the women are wearing? No, that would be the Oscar's. Tonight it was the Grammy's. YES another trophy to give away to the most self consumed and self absorbed group of people in the world...Entertainer's! I mean don't get me wrong, they are very talented, work extremely hard, and give many of us hours of enjoyment.. I love the movies, I love TV, and I would love to be a entertainment critic in my next life BUT do you know any other group that give themselves award shows like this group? and its not them really , its whoever gets these over the top shows together in the first place!
We have 'People's Choice'..'The Tony's'...'The Golden Globes'....'Grammy's'...'American Music Awards'...'The Oscar's'...'The Emmy's'...'The Doves'...'The MTV Video'...'SAG Awards'...'AVN Awards'...'BET"...Slammy Awards'...'Mobo Awards'...'CMT' and the list just keeps growing and growing. And of course not to mention all the entertainment show's on TV that do nothing but talk about Jessica's Simpson's horrible weight gain ( that crisis kept me up all night) and Christian Bales tirade on a movie set and dear god if the rumor's are true that Miley Cyrus is acting out like a 16 year old again I will just fall apart.WOW! somebody call TMZ!!...There is just so much extreme in the surreal life of entertainer's. Extreme paycheck's, extreme behavior, extreme everything! Are they so insecure that they need this many award's to pat themselves on the back? Why would anyone be shocked at Mr Bales tirade anyway? entertainers are treated like god's, after a while you might start to think you truly are one..
Tonight's show wasn't without enjoyable moments but there is so much more going on in the world beside the small box of "stroke my ego" that these shows promote. Being awarded is a great honor but it loses it's greatness after about the 20th award show. Less is more and I think it would be great to see some of these shows done away with. Check out this cool article I found..We sure are on the same page..ABC News: Glut of Award Shows Growing Worse
On another note, Jennifer Hudson's song was truly beautiful, Paul McCartney was wonderful of course but having Ringo up there would have been an added to treat since Paul was singing an early Beatle song, what was up with the pregnant outfit from M.I.A ??!! can I say it again? extreme!! extremely awful.. and if your going to bring out icon's like Neil Diamond make sure they can still sing! I was shocked he talked the lyrics of 'Sweet Caroline'.. Bless his heart, that was sad to me..AND the most beautiful dress of the evening? my opinion..Whitney Houston...Well that's it for now..Hey maybe these shows continue to stay on because of people like me that complain about them and GASP watch them anyway...I will hate myself in the morning...but will do it all over again on February 22 when " the Oscar goes to"........I'm pathetic!

I'm "TAKEN" !!! ( By Liam Neeson)
I finally went out to a movie last night! Haven't been out to a real theater since the last disappointing Indiana Jones rump . Anyway, that's another blog...My girlfriend and I went to see "Taken" with Liam Neeson ( Schindler's list, Star Wars, Love Actually , the voice of Aslan in the Chronicles of Narnia, yep I didn't know that either...) Of course there were other actor's in this movie but after the first 10 minutes you really don't care who they are. For the next 2 hours you are fixed on this father's attempt to rescue his kidnapped daughter from Paris and he has about a 90 hour window to do it in or she is lost forever in the sex slave trade.
At first you get the impression that 'daddy' is pretty low key, mild mannered, maybe a bit sad and beaten down by the life and career that took valuable time away from his family that eventually ended up destroying it.. He is divorced and watches from the sidelines his daughter's 'new life' with her mother and very wealthy step father.
After reluctantly allowing his very spoiled daughter a trip to Paris, within a few hours of her arrival she and her girlfriend are kidnapped. She has enough time to call her father and BAM! From then on you are 'taken' on a roller coaster of an intense ride of non stop action. This is your classic 'good guy vs bad guy'. You find yourself sucked into this father's obsession ,and anguish to find his daughter and kill, maim, or torture anyone involved that gets in his way. It's rated pg-13 so the maiming isn't over the top as it would be in an R rating.
The movie has the same theme as 'Arnold's' "Commando" and "True Lies". In other words don't mess with an ex agents family or you are going to really regret it...over and over and over....lol
The theater audience really got into this story. Every time a bad guy was 'punished', there was gasping, clapping and cheer's and I think you get the feel that it has alot to do with their anger over the horrific reason these girls are taken in the first place and you want justice! At the end of the movie there was a huge applause.
Liam Neeson was excellent and believable as a desperate father but of course it was a bit far fetched all throughout the movie, but you didn't care. Someone his age (he does look a little weathered but still very good) running around the streets of Paris acting like James Bond , Jason Bourne, or Bruce Willis would surely come home with more then a scratch and a limp..BUT hey he's the good guy and they are supposed to win! It was a lot of fun, lots of action ( don't take the young kiddies, it's for adult kiddies) and well worth getting out of the house, grabbing a bucket of popcorn and settling in for 2 hours of kick ass "I want my daughter back you lousy scum or you will die" entertainment.....20th Century Fox Presents .....when I got home, I ended my evening watching a rerun of the "Notebook".....lol

'blogging for dummies'
Well, after one day of sitting in this chair typing my mind into brain dead mush, I still cannot quite figure out what I am doing. I had email after email telling me they couldn't 'post' a comment on my blog. So I went into my account and messed with setting after setting and I think I finally figured out the problem.......maybe.......so I think you can post now under 'anonymous' then it will ask you to write the coded word and then it sends your message to my email for approval, THEN I can post it...oh brother!..what a mess I am when it comes to computer's.. I am now asking myself, is this REALLY going to be fun? ask me in a few days. Good thing this blog site has a cancel account clause with just a click away!
Hey, ya know the other day when I was telling all my email buddies about my recent job hunting experiences? ( I haven't blogged them yet here) . Well most of the time what I have run into is the fact that #1) I'm to old 2) Not enough degree 3) can't speak Spanish 4) 'overqualified' (my personal favorite insult) and the most recent #5) I live in St Cloud...yep, that's what they said! actually it wasn't meant to be an insult, they were more concerned with the mileage vs the wage ratio but it was really quite funny at the time. I wasn't upset with that, I laughed.
Ok. So this morning as I was browsing the want Ad's I came upon one that made me chuckle! now this was a first...It read ""Excellent communication of the English language" ...So I sent in my resume. If I have to make #6) can't speak excellent English on my list of rejections I think I will have to hang this job hunt up for awhile or do the unthinkable................apply at Walmart!

whistle while you work
Well, if you have a job KEEP IT! and don't complain. These days a little brown nosing and kissing up will be the only way to stay employed along with just being an excellent worker..If you find yourself having that dreaded 'bad day' get over it fast and look around you and thank the Lord you have a good job, and can bring home that paycheck. It wouldn't hurt you to even approach your employer once in a while and thank them for the security that you have....If you're looking for a job, there is plenty to complain about .. I have been job hunting for almost 18 month's now and we all know how horrible it is out there! Live and learn as they say and if I had any insight to all the horror the economy was in for I would have done things a whooooole lot different a few years back. BUT that was then and this is now. We never get to old for 'life lessons'.
I find at this graceful time in my life that many do not want to hire in middle age. "I ain't dead yet" 'They' look at that fact with their own set of insecurities I guess. They probably feel I may not stay with them long like someone in their 20's or 30's, or I may decide to retire early , or die in the hall from a massive coronary or better yet get so old I forget why I am there in the first place or could it have something to do with that fact I might have a lot of life experience and they just don't want to pay for that or listen to my opinion's? ummmm.. haha....can't imagine why they wouldn't want to hear "well ,when I was young" or "back when we did it". .well bottom line, if you can find a job that satisfies your wallet and you remain somewhat sane throughout the day you're blessed. Save all your frustrations, rants and opinions for your family, they won't fire you for being annoying... I'm sure they love to hear your endless stories of employee injustice, office gossip , politics and unfairness, no wait they actually don't, that's why I started to write . It was either start writing or drinking, we'll see which one works the best........ anyway, your boss really just wants you to clock in, work 150%, clock out and do the same thing with a great attitude everyday until you die and that really is OK!! If you have that rare and special employer that is interested in your life, your opinion's, and your world, then you are very lucky indeed and you better hold on to that job until they have to physically carry you out on a stretcher, strait jacket or black bag, but truthfully? they are not that into you so go cry somewhere else. In this economy right now I have learned for every AD I send my resume to there is 200 other applicants wanting that very same job! I probably send out 10 resumes a day and I might get one response in a month! I no longer take the silence as personal. I had an interview 3 weeks ago way into Orlando for a Family Practice office that specializes in weight control, exercise, and organic living..I bet when I walked in they gasped! haha.(now this one I could take personal)..They could probably tell I love chips and dip, in need of some serious liposuction, and was not a 20 year old spanish speaking supermodel..Gosh I never heard from them, what a surprise! I do have some very funny and interesting job hunting stories that I will share as time goes on..I will stop for today and catch my breath..I need to stand up and move around or this old lady will get a blood clot!! Better take a Bayer.....until later..have a great day!

Searching for Caylee (from 11-08 )
This is an account that I wrote back in November 2008. When I read it now it still grieves my heart. Little did we know that day that little Caylee would be found a month later far from where we were searching and so close to her own home, and by a man living right here in St Cloud. I watch the coverage everyday like many of you and our opinions are very strong and diverse.
Since this account many things have happened in this case and I will continue to share my thoughts .This is my first day of blogging and creating this page I really am not sure of all the how to's and such , so until I get it together and learn more, have mercy on my ignorance. I wanted to start my page by posting 'articles' I have already written just to get started..
thanks!

I wanted to sit down and write about my day with the Caylee Anthony search team. Many of you have asked already. well, It started early, I arrived at the command post about 7:45am this morning with about 2000 other people. I signed in, and waited ,then waited some more. The media were everywhere and of course the 'famous bounty hunter' Leonard Padilla arrived in his full man in black outfit, toothpick hanging from his lips as usual, lol, and signing autographs like a rock star (that was kind of disturbing, but whatever, if it finds Caylee it doesn't matter) The media would have you believe (and has already reported) that Equusearch was disappointed with the turnout, not true.I stood there speaking to one of the top guys and actually he told me they were unprepared for the huge turnout and that tomorrow (Sunday will be better organized) I told him I was a bit puzzled by that because the media promoted this event non stop and were quoting volunteers close to 5000. He was frustrated because the ratio between 'team leaders' and volunteers was really poor and there lies your problem. It was just some poor planning. Many people wanting to search and help, few to tell you HOW. So they learned the hard way and will make Sunday's search even better.
I finally got into a group or team of 18 searchers, some walkers, some 4 wheelers. The leader had a map of our designated location and we headed out. With bug repellent sprayed all over me, water bottle attached to my jeans and my wooden walking stick we headed out into a wooded area off of Boggy Creek Rd down by the airport, not far from the 417 underpass/overpass, whatever pass it is. On the way there we chatted about the case , but as soon as you hit the dirt, its all business , focusing on the ground and anything that looks out of place, not 'normal' or of course smells bad! I did find some old clothes, old blanket, ya know just stuff unrelated and of course had a delightful encounter with a very long disgusting black snake! There was a moment that one of the girls and I were roaming and poking things when we came up on a suspicious looking large piece of board laying on the ground as if it was covering something underneath. You really get a very strange feeling in your stomach about that time. This girl I was with had done this search 2 other times so she said to me as we started to lift it " always be prepared to see something awful"...but it was nothing...You really don't want to come across remains BUT yet at the same time you do, so it will be over and there is final closure.
We searched until there was nothing left to poke, prod or dig. Once we were done , we headed back to the command post, had a drink and something to eat. I was going to go back out again with another search team but it got to late. One of the search teams did find 'something', divers were called in but we have no word on it yet.
So that was one of the most interesting and fascinating things I have ever done in my life and by myself. I wasn't sure I could actually do it. I met some great people. It is hard to put into words what it was truly like out there, but thousands of people had the same goal, the same mind set , and the same heart..Find little Caylee Anthony and bring her home.
Thank you all for your prayers, and encouragement ( that really helped).. Dr Powers, thank you for donating the gloves, they really appreciated that!
God bless you...

"Ghost Town" Movie review
Hello again everyone!
I hope your day is going well. I would like to review a recent DVD rental I viewed recently. I rarely go out to a theater anymore and when I come across a "keeper" I like to pass on my thought's..The movie is called Ghost Town with British actor and comedian Ricky Gervais, T'ea Leoni ( Spanglish, The Family Man), and Greg Kinnear (As Good as it Gets and Little Miss Sunshine).
Its started out slow to me as Greg Kinnnear , an unfaithful selfish husband suddenly dies when a huge bus hits him the day he is trying to buy an apartment for his mistress. (yea , it's a comedy) Pan to Ricky Gervais, an unhappy, self loathing, cranky loner who works as a dentist and happens to live in the same apartment building as Kinnear's wife, and now widow. (T'ea Leoni) .
Ricky is scheduled for a colonoscopy at the hospital and realizes after the procedure is done that he had died on the table for 7 minutes. After he leaves the hospital he begins to encounter dead people, really annoying dead people, they follow him around and ask for favor's because no one else in the 'living world' can hear them, including Kinnear. Of course his disdain for people, dead or alive makes for interesting comic dialogue. He finally makes a deal with Kinnear to help make things right with his widow so that he will be left in peace.
I recommend this delightful, funny, 'message' movie because it's a surprise. It was better then I thought it would be after the first 20 minutes. The comic talent of Ricky Gervais is worth the watch alone. His sarcastic one liners, British humor and character evolvement was touching and at one point you even shed a few tears. I found myself laughing a lot with the witty script and kooky characters ,case in point, Ricky's doctor .. You will love the scene when he joins T''ea and new (save the world) boyfriend. Reminds us of the times we have laughed when we are not supposed to (church, funeral's, serious conversations, you got it).
It has some strong language thrown in here and there when you don't expect it so I'm sure that's where they get the PG-13 rating. BUT the line his dental partner gives him at the end of the movie, even though a bit crass, is actually one of the best lines in the movie and made me think "wouldn't you just love to say those very words to some miserable cranky people you know?"........Well , I'm going to be honest, I would!
But in the end, when we get our lives together and get over our own misery and start seeing a bigger picture, we might come across a hurting person someday that says " it hurts when I smile, and we can reply " I can fix that"..you will understand what I mean, just see the movie and Enjoy! I did....

The Shack (my first post)
I just finished reading "The Shack" .. My own opinion from reading it page to page I feel it is a must read by author Wm. Paul Young...Many have their own views about God and His place among us but this is fiction not fact and one must read it like that if you are going to find delight in it..Sure there are areas in the book that one would love to pick a part and say "that's not biblical'....but I have watched many wonderful and delightful movies that talk of God, make God into a very unusual character that ends up to be a very powerful message as well..no harm done except to tell a story that brings hope, restoration and forgiveness...This book makes you laugh, cry, and at times makes your knees weak....many times I had to stop, take a breath to compose myself, wipe the tears then start again....It is full of the power of God's love, Jesus' glory and the Holy Spirit's guidance...I think anyone dealing with a great loss, pain and unforgiveness with a loved one would benefit reading it. It is not the Bible, it is not scripture, it is not a study guide, but it is NOT New Age either. (which is nice). It is just an amazing journey and wonderful cool story of a man spending a powerful and fantastic weekend with an amazing God...all Three in one! It was really wonderful the way the writer put it together with much imagination....There are many glorious and funny moments too, when the character Mack walks on the water with Jesus and the first moment that I knew one of the characters was in fact the Holy Spirit when he reached to Mack's face to wipe his tears and said "I collect tears"...It is a wonderful soul searching adventure of turning pain and tragedy to victory and the journey to get there ......there are so many moments of catching your breath in this book that it is worth reading it for yourself without any judgements or trying to compare it to the Bible, just read it for the pure enjoyment, and wonder what it would be like to spend a weekend with our Creator! the moments of Mack's restoration with his father are so tender and wonderful, I couldn't help think it would make anyone dealing with past hurts delightfully touched and maybe even changed...Mack's 'great sadness' is such a horror that only a merciful and loving God could possibly understand, explain and heal his broken heart. This is 'just MY opinions' but this story really does detail 'where tragedy confronts eternity'..........so enough said, read it for yourself
